Frequently Asked Questions

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO HAVE MY SURFACE RESEALED?
While the lifespan of rubber surfaces about 20 years, to ensure you get the most out of your rubber during that time we recommend calling us to reseal your surface every 3-5 years depending on your traffic and UV exposure.
HOW DO YOU PATCH RUBBER IF IT IS DAMAGED?
Even though rubber surfacing is incredibly tough and durable, accidents can happen which damage your rubber. To patch the damaged area we cut around it and then rough up the edges so the patch doesn't leave noticeable straight lines. We use rubber that we leave with you at the end of your job to ensure any patch perfectly matches your job's colour mixture and we trowel this rubber into the prepared area.
HOW LONG UNTIL I CAN WALK OR PARK ON MY RUBBER SURFACE?
The curing time for pour in place rubber can vary based on temperature and humidity but the typical cure time is 48 hours before you are able to walk on the new surface. To park a car or place any heavy or high pressure items, such as large planters or chairs, on a new rubber surface, we recommend waiting 3-5 days.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY RUBBER SURFACE?
Rubber surfaces can be easily cleaned with a powerwasher, safely up to 3200 psi at a couple inches away from the surface, to remove any dirt or stains.
DO I NEED AN EXISTING CONCRETE BASE SURFACE TO HAVE RUBBER?
Existing concrete is the most common base that we cover, however it is not the only surface we can cover. We are easily able to put rubber over stone, asphalt, interlock, wooden decks, and even aggregate subsurfaces such as gravel.
IS YOUR RUBBER SURFACING WATERPROOF?
PIP rubber surfaces are not waterproof as they are porous and allow water to drain and follow the existing slope or drainage path underneath, which help rubber act as a non-slip safety surface. There are pour sealers that can be applied to give water diverting properties.
CAN I CREATE CUSTOM COLOUR AND DESIGN OPTIONS FOR MY HOME OR BUSINESS?
Yes, we offer a wide variety of colour options which allow us to provide you with a custom colour blend, as well as design features such as borders, company logos, or even your favourite sports team's logo.
HOW DOES RUBBER SURFACING HOLD UP TO WINTER WEATHER?
Pour in place rubber is bound all throughout the product with resin, allowing it to expand and contract so as not to crack or delaminate from the freeze and thaw cycles. It is also shovel and snowblower friendly. We do not recommend using snow plows on our surfaces.
